The Analytics Data Engineer owns the Silver, Gold, and Semantic layers of the analytics platform and serves as the bridge between foundational data engineering and business intelligence. Working closely with Data Engineers, BI Developers, Strategic Insights Analysts, and business stakeholders, this role ensures that data is governed, consistent, scalable, and aligned with business definitions and reporting requirements.
What You’ll Own
- Translate business requirements into scalable analytical data products
- Design, build, and maintain curated datasets within the Silver and Gold layers of the analytics platform.
- Design and maintain enterprise semantic models that support reporting and self-service analytics.
- Develop and manage business transformations, ETL’s, enrichment processes, and data modeling logic.
- Create scalable, reusable data assets that support enterprise reporting and analytics.
- Standardize business definitions, KPIs, and metrics across analytical datasets.
- Optimize data structures for performance, usability, and maintainability, risks, and resource allocation across the Strategic Insights team.
- Collaborate with Data Engineers to ensure source data is available and properly structured.
- Partner with BI Developers to ensure reports and dashboards leverage trusted semantic assets.
- Collaborate with Strategic Insights teams to support analytical initiatives.
- Implement validation, testing, and monitoring processes for analytical datasets.
- Ensure consistency between source data, curated datasets, and reporting outputs.
- Support data lineage, metadata management, and governance initiatives.
- Identify and resolve data quality issues and inconsistencies.
- Support ongoing maintenance and enhancement of analytical datasets and semantic models.
- Troubleshoot data and reporting issues impacting business users.
- Optimize performance and scalability of analytical assets.
- Contribute to platform modernization and technical debt reduction efforts.
- 5+ years of experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, business intelligence, or related disciplines.
- Advanced SQL and data modeling expertise.
- Experience designing dimensional models, semantic models, and analytical data products.
- Strong understanding of medallion architecture concepts (Bronze, Silver, Gold).
- Experience building and maintaining enterprise reporting datasets.
- Ability to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Experience working with cross-functional business and analytics teams.
- Strong communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Fabric, including Lakehouse, Warehouse, Semantic Models, and Pipelines or Data Factory
- Familiarity with Power BI, DAX, and enterprise semantic modeling practices.
- Experience implementing data quality testing and observability frameworks.
- Knowledge of metadata management, data cataloging, and governance tools.
- Experience supporting self-service analytics and enterprise reporting environments.
- Familiarity with Agile delivery methodologies.
