CORPORATE CONTROLLER
Key Objectives
The Corporate Controller is responsible for all accounting activities for the North America sites (US, Canada) with exposure to Mexico, Wales, and Germany. This role provides financial decision support on a wide scope of operational and strategic matters impacting the achievement of the Business’s objectives. An integral part of the finance team, this position will collaborate with the larger finance team in providing solutions to accomplish multiple financial related tasks.
Role Responsibilities
- Manage of team of 5 direct reports (total team of 10)
- Responsible for monthly, quarterly, and year-end accounting close activities, including transactions reviews and journal entries as needed
- Review monthly financial reports, including balance sheets and income statements to ensure accurate and timely reporting
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial analysis focusing on commentary and interpretation of results to provide business insights
- Work with the shared services team to ensure AP, AR, and other accounting activities are being performed according to expectations
- Ensure the consistent implementation of the Company’s accounting policies throughout the business, with particular attention to areas requiring judgment and estimation
- Manage SOX on-going support and compliance
- Responsible for review of accounting policies, updates, and implementation
- Lead the interactions with internal and external audit
- Provides relevant data, analysis, and fact-based recommendations
- Document improvement opportunities, creating guidelines and directives; identify potential improvement based on best practices and knowledge of internal/external business challenges
- Interact with all other departments, while ensuring that Accounting and Finance best practices are being leveraged
EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS:
- Bachelor’s degree required with an emphasis in Accounting or Finance; CPA required
- At least 10 years of accounting experience with demonstrated success and increasing responsibilities
- Commercial accounting experience required
- Ability to develop knowledge of and work directly in ERP systems to extract information and identify opportunities to leverage systems more effectively
- Strong knowledge of accounting regulations and company accounting policies and practices and unquestioned integrity in the application of such standards
- Knowledge of Sarbanes Oxley and US GAAP
- Strong business acumen and judgement
- Business analysis, financial planning and reporting skills that generate business insights that add measurable value
- Current knowledge of trends in finance and functional best-practices
- Excellent interpersonal communication (both written and verbal), and presentation skills
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a matrixed environment
- Strong organizational and time management skills in a fast-paced environment
- Advanced computer skills with MS software (Excel, PowerPoint)
